Speaking Sessions

  • Introduction to Flask (A Python Web Framework)

    In this workshop we'll learn the basics of building with Flask. We'll install the necessary packages to host a server and develop our first website. This is a 100 level course with no previous experience required. You'll learn how to use Flask to host a basic webserver, build styled templates, and learn how to interact with an API. Please bring a laptop with a text editor (VS Code, Notepad++, etc) and Git installed.

  • Introduction to Python

    Welcome to the wonderful world of the programming with Python. In this workshop we'll be orienting ourselves to the syntax and usage of this powerful website building, number crunching, and easy to use programming language. This is a 100 level course that starts with installing Python and running commands in the REPL to creating our first program and exploring the Python Standard Library. We'll learn how to interact with the REPL, use virtual environments for easy code sharing, and effectively execute python programs. Please bring a computer with git installed and a text editor installed such as Visual Studio Code or Notepad++.
