The Google and Bing map services offer many predefined map, which one can simple past on to one web page or into one's application. This presentation will focus on what to do when one of the predefined maps does not meet your needs either because the data you want to display is not available on a predefined map or the map's format or orientation does not meet your needs. This presentation will cover four topics: 1. Uses of the overlay layers provided by WPF, Silverlight and Javascrip map controls to add you own annotation and display features to a map display. 2. Use of the Jason and XML interface provide by the Web base Bing and Google map servers to request the creation of custom map displays 3. The title based map element architecture used by the Web to store map data elements and how used web requests to acquire the title elements and assemble you own custom map displays. This approach is more complex that the first two; however it give the developer complex control over the map's appearance and format 4. The fourth topic concerns the relationship between the WCS-84 geographic coordinates system used by the Google and Bing map services and the state plan coordinates system commonly used by government, utilities and other for survey data, The presentation will include a discussion of available resources of converting location define in state plan coordinates into a location in WCS-84 coordinatesTime: 9:45 AM Saturday Room: 4310
